About Mount Pleasant.
Mount Pleasant encompasses the geographic area from the Ravenel Bridge to the beaches of Sullivan’s Island and Isle of Palms. In Mount Pleasant, you’ll find a mix of new neighborhoods, shopping, grocery stores...as well as more of that good ole’ Old Charleston charm.
Old Mount Pleasant.
Old Mount Pleasant is a residential neighborhood just around the corner from Sullivan’s Nest. If you take a left out of this neighborhood onto Ben Sawyer Blvd, go about a block and turn left onto Center Street (at Santi’s), you’ll be in Old Mount Pleasant. This neighborhood stretches from Center Street down to Charleston Harbor and all the way up to Shem Creek.
In Old Mount Pleasant, you’ll find schools, parks, ranch houses, as well as large new homes. It’s an extremely walkable area.
Within Old Mount Pleasant is Old Village, which is essentially the handful of streets along the Charleston Harbor. Old Village is a historic section of Mount Pleasant and is on the National Register of Historic Places. This historic district comprises 30 blocks - bound by water on two sides (The Charleston Harbor and Shem Creek). Old Village offers a Norman Rockwell-type setting with beautiful homes, sidewalks, and live oak trees. Within the Old Village, you’ll find the Historic District, which has local shops, art galleries, the Pitt Street Pharmacy, and the Post House.
